Road Operations and Maintenance Performance at Ministry of Public Works in Afghanistan

摘要: Afghanistan’s landlocked position and remarkable geo-economic location in the region are the key distinctions highlighting the need for well-developed road infrastructure. Since 2002 the international community invested over $4 billion on the road infrastructure of Afghanistan; however, the roads are rapidly deteriorating due to bad performance of road maintenance. Road operations and maintenance (O&M) is essential to preserve the value of the road asset in its originally constructed condition. Purposefully, this study aimed to examine the bottlenecks existing at Ministry of Public Works in terms of planning, budgeting, management, and executions which are affecting the performance of road operations and maintenance.
