Data-driven Flight Mission Planning of Small Unmanned Aerial Systems for Producing Survey-Grade Geospatial Products.(Under the direction of Dr. Kevin Han and Dr. William Rasdorf)With recent advances in computer vision, photogrammetric, and remote sensing techniques, small unmanned aerial systems (UASs) have been widely used for surveying and mapping, producing geospatial products with high spatial accuracy. Despite the potential benefits, surveyors have faced difficulties in consistently generating high-quality geospatial data, leading to questions about the reliability of these technologies. Also, UAS surveying is labor-intensive and involves lengthy processes such as setting up control points and processing 3D data. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to enhance the accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and applicability of UAS-based photogrammetric surveying.
