Earthworms (Lumbricidae) of the Haliburton Highlands, Ontario, Canada

摘要: Evaluation of earthworm and habitat data on 71 sites in Haliburton County, Ontario during August 1971 were made. The survey revealed the presence of 12 species, representing five genera. A range of one to four species were found at anyone site. One or two species was the usual number found at a site. The earthworm distribution in relation to habitat factors was as follows: 80% were found in surface soil between 14-18 C; 40% were on each of the north and south facing slopes; 50% were on terrace positions; and 85% were collected at sites where the surface soil acidity was between pH 5.0 and 6.9.
