摘要: Internal Combustion Engines are the world's leading users of fossil fuels. In this, Compression ignition Engines are among the most frequently used power generation units because of their increased thermal efficiency. Nearly 34 to 42% of the heat energy is wasted through exhaust gas and only 13 to 16% of the heat energy is transformed into convenient mechanical output. The few number of waste heat recovery (WHR) mechanism and procedures comprise of Rankine cycle, Turbo-charging and thermoelectric generators which are used to increase the thermal efficiency of devices and to minimize pollutions. Shell-and-tube style heat exchangers often used by the IC engines for WHR because of their efficient heat transfer rate.
