40 Gbit/s OTDM Signal Transmission over 1100 km using SMF-Based Effective Area Enlarged Positive Dispersion Fiber

摘要: Gbit/s transmission over 1100 km using SMF-Based Effective Area Enlarged Positive Dispersion Fiber. The paper uses bandlimited RZ signal with different signal parameters, and shows that good transmission performance over 1100 km can be achieved using 7 mW signal peak power and 8 ps pulsewidth. To attain this, optical filters with very sharp transmission characteristics are used in both transmitter and receiver. The results demonstrated in this paper are based on simulation, and the author believes the propagating distance reached in the paper is the longest distance achieved for such system.
