A Dependable Information Infrastructure for Power Quality Control

摘要: Many new power quality (PQ) related services are emerging in the deregulated electrical energy markets (eg, in order to compensate the non-active power that is overheating transformers). They all rely on a dependable information infrastructure in a dynamic environment where not only the application services change over time, but also the underlying network topologies are not fixed. This paper shows how resource discovery can be used to logically interconnect related PQ-entities in a peer-to-peer network. Besides, it presents a middlewarebased layer on top of heterogeneous systems–which integrates fault tolerance provisions, aggregates measurement data and distributes PQ control directives in order to deploy the application services in a dependable way, eg optimising availability.
