Conservative treatment of congenital dacryocele.

摘要: Purpose: To study prospectively the effectiveness of medical management congenital dacryoceles. Methods: All patients presenting with dacryocele that were not infected treated warm compresses, massage, and topical antibiotics. Dacryoceles did resolve at least two weeks probed. intravenous (IV) antibiotics in addition to compresses massage. Results: Seventeen 21 dacryoceles studied over a 3 1/2-year period. examined by authors treatment was initiated prior age. Sixteen resolved 1 6 days. Three these 16 hospitalized time initial ophthalmic evaluation (2 4 days life). One additional became after 2 (4th day life), requiring hospital admission IV four within 24 hours initiation antibiotics, Five probed resolving 14 31 management. required repeat probing. Conclusions: Medical can be effective dacryoceles; 76% this series
