LES of Flow around a Circular Cylinder at a Subcritical Reynolds Number with Cartesian Grids

摘要: Large eddy simulations (LES) of turbulent flow around a circular cylinder are performed with novel technique using Cartesian grids. Several test cases investigate the influence subgrid-scale model (Smagorinsky vs. dynamic Germano) and grid resolution. The results show overall fair agreement between LES recently DNS. An important issue turns out to be proper prediction mean recirculation length. Results also compared experimental data for near far wake regions. shape streamwise velocity profile inside bubble remains an open question.
