摘要: Estimating cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk is necessary for determining the potential net benefit of primary prevention pharmacotherapy. Risk estimation relying exclusively on traditional CVD factors may misclassify risk, resulting in both undertreatment and overtreatment. Coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring personalizes prediction through direct visualization calcified coronary atherosclerotic plaques provides improved accuracy heart (CHD) or estimation. In this review, we discuss most recent studies CAC, which unlike historical studies, focus sharply clinical application. We describe MESA CHD calculator, a recently developed CAC-based 10-year estimator, can help guide preventive therapy allocation by better identifying high- low-risk individuals. closing, density, regional distribution extra-coronary calcification, represent future CAC assessment research lead to further improvements prediction.
