Videoconferencing a stroke assessment training workshop: Effectiveness, acceptability, and cost

摘要: Introduction: Videoconferencing (VC) is becoming a common method for the delivery of continuing education (CE) to clinicians in remote locations. The purpose this study was compare effectiveness, acceptability, and costs full-day training workshop (TW) delivered through two different formats: face-to-face (FTF) VC. TW designed teach administration scoring guidelines Chedoke-McMaster Stroke Assessment, an outcome measure used by rehabilitation professionals. Methods: simultaneously FTF VC formats total five communities on separate occasions. Participants completed test competency at beginning (pretest) end (posttest) as well feedback questionnaire. A cost comparison also undertaken. Results: Forty-four physical occupational therapists participated. No significant between-group differences were found posttest related format (FTF or VC): (F1,38 = 0.6, MSE 3.6, p > 0.4), workshops: 1.4, 0.2). Despite technical difficulties, participant experience rated “good” “excellent.” offered considerable savings participants their organizations, minimum $7,437 (Canadian). Conclusion: Clinicians participating via performed those group test. improves access CE, received participants, provides cost-effective course delivery. Further evaluation other CE events indicated.
