摘要: Blood pressure (BP) and hypertension prevalence differences between UK South Asians (Bangladeshis, Indians Pakistanis) White Europeans exist in childhood adulthood. This meta-analysis sought to quantify these differences. We searched MEDLINE (1946–2017), EMBASE (1974–2017) GLOBAL HEALTH (1973–2017) for comparative studies pooled the data with Revman (Cochrane Collaboration). Twenty-two were included—fourteen on adults eight children. Asian had lower systolic slightly diastolic BP. However, stark heterogeneity existed subgroups: Bangladeshis markedly BP (mean difference: −11.7 mmHg men women), (−2.0 mmHg −4.5 mmHg women) Pakistanis intermediately (−7.9 mmHg −8.6 mmHg compared Europeans. children did not have or children, their was often higher. intergenerational change difference mirrored body mass index difference, particularly Bangladeshis. conclude that ethnicity-related are heterogeneous dependent age, sex subgroup. do than contrast adult counterparts. There is concern this pattern may continue into adulthood, worsening already high cardiovascular disease burden future years. Further research needed ascertain causes of evolving issue.
