摘要: The database volumes of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP R/3 are growing at a tremendous rate and some them have already reached size several Terabytes. OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) databases this hard to maintain tend perform poorly. Therefore most vendors implemented new features horizontal partitioning optimize such mission critical applications. Horizontal was investigated in detail the context shared nothing distributed but today's ERP mostly use centralized with everything architecture. In work, we therefore investigate how an system performs when data underlying is partitioned horizontally. Our results show that especially joins, parallel executed statements, administrative tasks benefit greatly from while resulting small increase execution times insertions, deletions updates tolerable. These positive initiated cooperation partners pursue layout their largest installed productive systems.
