摘要: Abstract Introduction The distal ulnar artery in the hand is subjected to trauma when hypothenar eminence used as a hammer. clinical presentation of arterial obstruction or aneurysm formation at this site with history termed hammer syndrome (HHS) and most commonly observed right hands men. Since trauma-inducing activities associated HHS are common, histopathology segment our autopsy population was evaluated. Methods examined 21 randomly selected autopsies. Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded cross sections were assessed using hematoxylin eosin (H&E), trichrome elastic stains well immunohistochemistry for CD34 α-smooth muscle actin. Results Intimal hyperplasia common vasculature. degree intimal hyperplasia, by intima/media ratio, significantly greater men than either their corresponding left women. None segments contained foam cells extracellular lipid deposits indicative atherosclerosis. Conclusions In injury-prone artery, but particularly severe men, correlating demographics HHS. Although, frequently develops it resistant development
