摘要: Biomaterial implantation in animals is commonly used for biocompatibility studies as well examination of long-term interaction between tissue and the test material. An vitro cell culture model proposed an alternative which will save animal lives reduce pain discomfort such studies. In this study biomaterial was matched to types typical implant site particular material: porous calcium phosphate ceramic, dental orthopaedic implants, with periosteal fibroblasts, osteoblasts chondrocytes. All three attached on ceramic formed multicellular layers. Numbers chondrocytes increased 29-, 23- 17-fold, respectively, during 10 wk period. Osteoblasts retained their phenotypic expression by producing only Type I collagen. Parathyroid hormone (PTH, 50 nM) suppressed alkaline phosphatase activity over 50% cAMP more than 10-fold control cultures.
