摘要: Volatile oils of three Nigerian plants Ocimum gratissimum L., [Lamiaceae] Cymbopogon citratus (DC) Stapf [poaceae] and Ageratum conyzoides L. [Asteraceae] were screened for larvicidal activity against laboratory reared larvae the yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegypti Twenty (20) fourth instar per 100 ml solution each concentration used toxicity compared with endosulfan, a commercial insecticide. Mortality was observed after 24 hours exposure. All demonstrated complete action at varying concentrations but less potent than endosulfan. The oil from A. most potent, giving 100% mortality 120 ppm while C. O. gratissiumum resulted in 200 300 respectively. study gave an insight into possibility formulating suitable preparations essential these use control programme.
