摘要: Epidemiologic studies have shown that cigarette smoking (increased risk) and moderate alcohol consumption (decreased opposite effects in coronary artery disease. To investigate whether they act via the common mechanism of affecting diameter, 31 white men with arteriographically normal arteries were evaluated. Histories (never smoked, exsmoker, or current smoker) (nonuser low user versus users an average one drink per day) analyzed for association diameters. Nonsmokers had larger left main anterior descending diameters than either exsmokers smokers (p = 0.0001 0.004). Moderate large nondrinkers 0.009 0.01). Neither was removed after adjustment other risk factor. These data suggest use significant, independent, on long-term diameter. may be important mechanisms through which these behaviors alter
