摘要: Abstract Objectives Genetic variations in the Insulin/IGF-I genes pathway have been related to longevity, dementia, metabolic diseases and cancer. The purpose of present study was investigate 192 bp allele IGF-I gene promoter its relationship with syndrome (MS) components, mental nutritional state, muscle strength functional capacity an aged Spanish population. Design Population-based (Mataro Ageing Study), including 292 subjects (144 men 148 women, mean age 77.0 ± 5.4). Anthropometric variables, lipid profile, glucose blood pressure (BP) were measured; state (MMSE), (MNA) Barthel scale performed, correlated presence IGF-1 polymorphisms. Results MS (ATP-III criteria) found 49.5% (41.4% 57.6% women). distributed as: 41.9% homozygous, 44.3% heterozygous 13.9% non-carriers this allele. A lower prevalence observed homozygous (41.9% vs 54.9% heterozygous + non-carriers, p = 0.031). Mental better individuals compared (p = 0.015, p = 0.026 0.047, respectively). In men, MNA no differences MMSE scales. BP (p = 0.009) (p = 0.05) MNA. Conclusion Homozygosity for polymorphism suggests a healthier aging condition, less cardiometabolic disturbances, mental, state.
