摘要: The relationship of gross migration to net is continuously undergoing reevaluation in the literature. However, one major finding by Beale (1969) that produced famous u-shaped curve has received little attention, a surprising situation considering significant changes have taken place rural America since 1969. In this paper I use data from IRS returns for 1995–1998, and differentiate rates using number classification schemes developed USDA Census Bureau. results show diverse place, vary tremendously depending on geographic, economic, social characteristics county. Furthermore, between varies much more than previously suggested, especially negative counties, with implications theory public policy.
