摘要: A retrospective study was conducted to determine the incidence of deaths from exertional myopathy (EM) in hoofstock collection at National Zoological Park (NZP) 1975 1985. The diagnosis EM based on history, clinical signs, clinicopathological findings, gross and microscopic lesions. Only bovids, cervids, equids were included study. Data derived medical pathological records NZP. There 10 cases during this period, but only seven directly attributable EM. Five occurred after immobilization. Two improper transport, anesthetic history not known these cases. Pathologic changes consistent with incidental findings an animal killed by dogs, two animals euthanized because suspected infection Parelaphostrongylus tenuis. cervids bovids affected. no age or sex predilection for developing throughout year.
