摘要: We have witnessed a dramatic transformation of the US and western European economies in just twenty years. Built on manufacturing, today these are indubitably services-based economies. The raises number important issues for economists, evolutionary economists particular they long highlighted importance innovation structural change their treatment industrial organisation, employment creation, welfare, economic growth, international trade. Our understanding process, its implications, were built studies manufacturing sectors. What needs to be changed? Are some theories models no longer applicable? Do we need develop new explanations, models? Is service sectors fundamentally different sectors, or is there set common features? These key questions that now being asked. suggest that, by studying services innovation, scholars an opportunity integrated account applicable both which covers all aspects innovative process. This requires reassessment established models, development testing models. In other words, it through review what (we think) know about innovation. This, at any rate, our contention, belief. do not yet answer above questions. A tremendous amount research needed before clear answers can proffered. One goals this special issue raise interest economist working area, hopefully engage them it. As collection papers contained herein address important, leading edge topics services, will stimulate who actively researching area as well those already engaged research.
