摘要: Trematodes are snail-borne parasites of major zoonotic importance that infect millions people and animals worldwide frequently hybridize with closely related species. Therefore, it is desirable to study trematodiases in a One Health framework, where human animal trematodes considered equally important. It within this framework we set out the snail trematode communities four artificial lakes an abattoir Zimbabwe. Trematode infections snails were detected through multiplex PCR protocols. Subsequently, identified by sequencing partial mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) fragment, (adults from larval stages snails) using COI nuclear rDNA markers. Of 1,674 collected snails, 699 molecularly analyzed, which 12 19 Additionally, three parasite species sampled abattoir. Merely level COI-based barcoding. Moreover, identification members superfamilies Opisthorchioidea Plagiorchioidea required phylogenetic inference highly conserved 18S marker, as no reference sequences present public databases. These barcoding challenges demonstrate severe void available databases, can be attributed neglected status trematodiases. Adding this, many cannot used different studies use To fill gap, more on African trematodes, standardized region, desperately needed.
