摘要: An altitudinal survey of correspondences between fruiting phenologies fleshy-fruited tree species and seasonal dynamics frugivorous birds on Mt. Kinabalu in Borneo was carried out for 50 weeks across four vegetation types: a hill forest (800 m asl), lower montane (1700 m), an upper (2000-3000 m) subalpine (3000-3500 m). In the forest, large peak following general flowering phenomenon observed during October-November 1996 fruitless period February-April 1997. During period, number resident decreased. A bimodal pattern forest. temperate migrants were when occurred. The increased several lowland bird observed, decreased more continuous irregular patterns without outstanding peaks stable throughout year. These suggested (1) there strong relationship seasonality forest; (2) movements to might occur (3) higher zones be related scarcity available birds. hypothesis that influx into is affected by density habits supported. Montane plays important role as temporal refugia supplying fruit resources.
