摘要: Background Behcet's disease (BD) is a chronic inflammatory characterized by recurrent oral and genital ulcerations ocular lesions. Subclinical cardiac involvement may develop in BD patients. We aimed to evaluate subclinical left ventricular (LV) right (RV) systolic dysfunction patients without any apparent cardiovascular disease. Methods We studied 50 (43.8 ± 9.7 years, 59% men) 30 healthy controls (45.4 8.2 60% men). Conventional echocardiography, tissue Doppler imaging, velocity vector imaging-based strain measurements were performed analyze LV RV functions. Results LV isovolumic myocardial acceleration, peak during contraction (isovolumic velocity), significantly lower, while performance index was increased velocity, also markedly lower longitudinal rate than controls, demonstrating dysfunction. Conclusions Ventricular long-axis functions are important markers of contractility. Novel echocardiographic techniques provide additional data for detecting early deterioration function with BD. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Clin Ultrasound 41:347–353, 2013
