Caries Prevalence in Older Persons with and without Dementia

摘要: OBJECTIVES: To examine the prevalence of coronal and root caries in a memory clinic–based population elderly patients with without diagnosis dementia to influence age, sex, social relations, position, functional ability. DESIGN: Cross-sectional. SETTING: Patients referred possible cognitive dysfunction were recruited from two university hospital clinics. PARTICIPANTS: In total, 106 dentate persons participated study. Mean age was 82, 69 women, 87 had dementia. MEASUREMENTS: Data interviews clinical examination collected. The made at clinics according criteria International Classification Diseases, Tenth Revision. Active assessed using previously defined diagnostic National Institute Dental Craniofacial Research. RESULTS: mean number surfaces statistically significantly higher subjects (7.0 vs 2.7, P<.05).
