摘要: Spatial data on species distributions are available in two main forms, point locations and distribution maps (polygon ranges grids). The first often temporally spatially biased, too discontinuous, to be useful (untransformed) spatial analyses. A variety of modelling approaches used transform into maps. We discuss the attributes that location must satisfy order conservation planning. recommend before produce and/or evaluate models, dataset should assessed under a set criteria, including sample size, age data, environmental/geographical coverage, independence, accuracy, time relevance (often forgotten) representation areas permanent natural presence species. Distribution additional if for analyses strategies, minimizing commission omission errors, credibility source/assessors availability public screening. review currently databases mammals globally show they highly variable complying with these attributes. heterogeneity weakness seriously constrain their utility global also sub-global scale
