摘要: FOR the cracking of ethane in presence hydrogen over iron1 and nickel2, it has been supposed that molecule is adsorbed at adjacent carbon atoms (1–2 diadsorbed) prior to cracking. However, since work this laboratory on hydrocracking higher hydrocarbons given results which cannot readily be explained by 1–2 diadsorbed intermediates, behaviour neopentane neohexane was investigated order establish possibility alternative mechanisms. In case former, diadsorption impossible while latter must limited ethyl group attached quaternary atom.
