摘要: Curcumin, a phenolic compound extracted from Curcuma longa, is commonly used in Asia as spice and pigment has several biological functions, particularly antioxidant properties. It been reported that curcumin exhibits bifunctional properties related to its capability react directly with reactive oxygen species (ROS) also ability induce the expression of cytoprotective proteins through transcription factor nuclear factor-erythroid-2-related 2 (Nrf2). Recently, it postulated mitochondrial function metabolism are associated Nrf2 shown activities against dysfunction. The damage mitochondria implicated pathogenesis diseases like diabetes, cancer, aging, neurodegenerative disorders. This review focuses on some most recent findings suggest close relationship this function.
