摘要: Schistosomiasis represents a public health problem and praziquantel is the only drug used for treatment of all forms disease. Thus, development new anti-schistosomal agents utmost importance to increase effectiveness, reduce side effects delay emergence resistance. The present study was conducted report therapeutic efficacy PPQ-8, synthetic quinoline-based compound against Schistosoma mansoni. Mice were treated with PPQ-8 at day 49 post infection using two regimens (20 40 mg/kg). Significant reductions recorded in hepatic (62.9% 83.6%) intestinal tissue egg load (57.4% 73.5%), granuloma count (75.4% 89.1%) diameter (26.2% 47.3%), response regimens, respectively. In addition, both induced significant decrease liver (23.3% 32.8%) spleen (37.5% 45.3%) indices. Also, there mature ova, total worm female count, which more prominent higher dose. reduction level nitric oxide by 22.5% 47.2% indicates anti-oxidant activity PPQ-8. Bright field microscopic examination worms recovered from infected PPQ-8-treated mice showed nearly empty caeca no observable changes tegument. Our findings hold promise novel but further vitro vivo studies are needed elucidate possible mechanism/s action effect on other human schistosomes.
