摘要: Both carotid endarterectomy and angioplasty stenting are established interventions for select patients with stenosis. Carotid has a long history differs from most other surgical procedures in that it been intensely studied multiple randomized controlled trials proven to reduce the risk of stroke patients. Angioplasty stenosis was first reported early 1980s initially associated high rate thromboembolic complications due unprotected release plaque debris. The combination stenting, introduced 1995, allowed stabilization reduction debris embolization. However, only development embolic protection techniques devices become true alternative This chapter focuses on medical evidence support both stenting.
