Diversification in Argentine higher education: Dimensions and impact of private sector growth

摘要: Private education is a remarkably dynamic area of change in post-secondary education, particularly Latin America. Evidence growth the number private institutions and enrollment suggests that higher becoming increasingly diversified into two sectors – public private. While this appears to be true throughout America, much developing world, recent evidence from Argentina casts doubt on degree which sector trends may actually translate significant increase impact where proxied by relative share student graduates. This study explores dimensions expansion Argentina, places findings comparative (regional) theoretical framework. The analysis shows that, despite unprecedented universities, remains dominant provider university education. institutions, while certainly more numerous training growing students, do not account for larger enrollment. They have, however, developed specific niches (e.g., graduate level urban areas). Significantly, following pattern institutional proliferation found some universities offer elite alternatives prestigious institutions. serve qualify apparent `gains' underscore need further research relevant intrasectoral (public private)
