摘要: OBJECTIVE: Our goal was to describe worldwide growth-faltering patterns by using the new World Health Organization (WHO) standards. METHODS: We analyzed information available from WHO Global Database on Child Growth and Malnutrition, comprising data national anthropometric surveys 54 countries. Anthropometric comprise weight-for-age, length/height-for-age, weight-for-length/height z scores. The regions were used aggregate countries: Europe Central Asia; Latin America Caribbean; North Africa Middle East; South sub-Saharan Africa. RESULTS: Sample sizes ranged 1000 47 000 children. Weight for length/height starts slightly above standard in children aged 1 2 months falters until 9 of age, picking up after that age remaining close thereafter. moderately reaching approximately −1 at 24 reasonably stable that. Length/height also dramatically months, showing noticeable bumps just 24, 36, 48 but otherwise increasing months. CONCLUSIONS: Comparison child growth countries with standards shows faltering early childhood is even more pronounced than suggested previous analyses based National Center Statistics reference. These findings confirm need scale interventions during window opportunity defined pregnancy first years life, including prevention low birth weight appropriate infant feeding practices.
