摘要: Bio-impedance analysis (BIA) measurements have been used to predict components of body composition. Their validation is required for populations varying in race, sex, and age. In 371 Whites, 182 Blacks 225 Asians, single-frequency BIA at 50 kHz (RJL-100) resistance reactance were correlated with same-day total water (TBW) by THO dilution, potassium (TBK) whole 40 K counting, fat-free mass (FFM) dual-photon absorptiometry. correlation coefficients TBW, TBK, FFM, fat varied sex race all measured composition components. The highest was the lowest mass. Prediction equations further improved including age, stature, weight each study cohorts. SEE predictions ranges 5-6, 6-8, 7-10% respectively. effective predicting when subjects are specified weight, from 18 94 years © 1995 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
