摘要: Age estimation is an integral part of forensic medical and dental practice. In many countries, the age threshold 14 years set to determine minimum for criminal responsibility. present study, authors studied final maturation first (IPM1) second mandibular premolars (IPM2) by Cameriere maturity index determined cut-offs at 14 years, validate on test sample. Orthopantomograms 960 healthy south Indian children sub-adults (480 boys 480 girls) aged between 10 18 were analysed, 640 as training sample 320 a The results logistic regression analysis with (≥14 years) dependent variable IPM1, IPM2, sex predictor variables showed that both IPM1 IPM2 significantly related legal but not (p = 0.052). A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was performed evaluate specific cut-off values predicting 14 years. cut- off value IPM1 < 0.01 IPM2 < 0.02 obtained using highest Youden value. Our combined predictor, IPM1 + IPM2 < 0.02, specificity (97.5% in 92.5% girls), better post-test probability, 97.2% 91.9% girls, smaller number false positives (6.8%). conclusion, combination could be useful determining over children.
