摘要: Eukaryotic cells, whether free-living or organismal, rely on metallo-reductases to process environmental ferric iron and cupric copper prior uptake. In addition, some eukaryotes (e.g. fungi algae) couple ferri-reduction ferro-oxidation, a catalyzed by small cohort of multi-copper oxidases; in these organisms, the product is ligand for cell uptake via permease. addition their support lower eukaryotes, ferroxidases ferrous efflux Chordata; this release from transporter its ferroxidation. Last, also catalyze oxidation cuprous and, as metallo-oxidases, mirror dual activity metallo-reductases. This Perspective examines teleos yin–yang redox cycling metabolism.
