摘要: Up to 40% of meningiomas correspond non-benign subtypes associated with two-fold increased relative risk local failure and four-fold excess death. Among them atypical grade II comprise over 90% cases exhibit heterogeneous clinical outcomes. Several recent studies have performed detailed molecular-genetic characterization these neoplasms in order clarify their pathogenesis elucidate potential predictive, prognostic therapeutic markers that may help guide management. Results investigations implicated gain genetic material on chromosome 1q recurrence and/or progression tumor identified associations bone involvement both death meningioma. Important future challenges meningioma research include the investigation large-scale focal genomic alterations multi-institutional collaborations assessment whether more thorough bone-directed treatment can improve outcomes unpredictable subtype disease.
