摘要: Urbanization is increasing worldwide and happening at a rapid rate in China line with economic development. can lead to major changes freshwater environments through multiple chemical microbial contaminants. We assessed the impact of urbanization on physicochemical characteristics loading canals Suzhou, city that has experienced recent decades. Nine sampling locations covering three urban intensity classes (high, medium low) Suzhou were selected for field studies Huangshan (natural reserve) included as pristine control locations. Water samples collected physicochemical, microbiological molecular analyses. Compared low sites, there statistically significant higher levels nutrients total thermotolerant coliforms (or fecal coliforms) highly urbanized The effect was also apparent abundances human-associated markers bacterial pathogens water from These results correlated well land use types anthropogenic activities sites. overall indicate negatively impacts quality, providing high load includes pathogens.
