摘要: Presence of large and/or long runout prehistoric rockslides is often equalized with an evidence strong past earthquakes without providing any additional reasons in favor such assumption—just due to enormous size and surface expression these features. The erroneous assumption on seismic origin a particular landslide or group landslides would cause not only overestimation hazard, but, also, underestimation overall hazard much longer recurrence period comparison other triggering phenomena like rainstorms. Examples reliable substantiation based identification spatially distributed sedimentary features the lacustrine environment closely timed river damming event are presented discussed.
