摘要: Landslide dams can be originated by very different phenomena, each characterized specific types of movement, which control the final characteristics material. We present case study Val Pola landslide dam (Central Italian Alps, Lombardy), formed in 1987 al large rock avalanche. describe main features as well those its accumulation. Data from laboratory and situ tests performed on deposits are reported discussed. The collected data used to internal structure accumulation, behaviour during lake infilling overtopping phase. These fundamental interpret mechanisms put place accumulation theories proposed explain long runout avalanches. compare grain size distributions physical-mechanical properties sectors. stress relevance a detailed characterization perform correct seepage modelling reliable predictions stability breaching (geometry, water sediment discharge, duration). Point-like characterization, often controlled local conditions presence small outcrops, misleading both terms evaluation understanding processes. several published relationships approaches for assessment peak time geometry. confirm variability results difficulties using predictions.
