摘要: Background: For two decades, EEG-based Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) systems have been widely studied in research labs. Now, researchers want to consider out-of-the-lab applications and make this technology available everybody. However, medical-grade EEG recording devices are still much too expensive for end-users, especially disabled people. Therefore, several low-cost alternatives appeared on the market. The Emotiv Epoc headset is one of them. Although some previous work showed device could suit customer’s needs terms performance, no quantitative classification-based assessments compared a medical system available. Methods: This paper aims at statistically comparing system, ANT device, by determining their respective performances P300 BCI using same electrodes. On top that, review studies discussion practical considerations regarding both proposed. Nine healthy subjects participated experiment during which used different conditions: sitting chair walking treadmill constant speed. Results: performs significantly worse than device; observed effect sizes vary from medium large. has higher relative operational maintenance costs its competitor.
