摘要: The ribosome fraction of rabbit reticulocytes contains ribosomal units with a sedimentation coefficient 80 s and some smaller components. In addition there is spectrum at least five more rapidly sedimenting fractions, comprising the order 30% or material. fast fractions are considered to be aggregates ribosomes consisting up six units. They disintegrate into upon incubation RNase. separated from slow by sucrose gradient centrifugation, shown active both in whole cell cell-free incorporation radioactive amino acids. Incorporation [14C]phenylalanine stimulated polyuridylic acid as messenger RNA. stimulation activity maximum for unaggregated ribosomes. Part products appear aggregates. results indicate that many aggregated contain RNA, but not receptive added RNA; whereas do RNA molecules. simplest interpretation linkage due itself. findings support theory protein synthesis whereby several can operate simultaneously on one molecule
