摘要: Anacardium occidentale stem bark has been reportedly used in the management of diabetes, inflammatory and oxidative stress conditions folk medicine. In this study, methanolic extract (MEAO) was evaluated for its hypolipidemic antioxidant activities. Extract obtained from powdered A. by maceration methanol (80%). Phytochemical screening, phenolic contents free radical scavenging activity were determined extract. Animals injected with Triton-X 100 (100 mg/kg, i.p.) to induce hyperlipidemia. MEAO (100, 200 400 mg/kg) atorvastatin (10 administered orally 7 days. Serum, liver heart tissue homogenates determination lipid profile assays. Alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, anthraquinones, terpenoids cardiac glycosides found be present MEAO. Total content (TPC) total flavonoid (TFC) 129 mg GAE/g sample 93.7 RE/g respectively. showed potent IC50 value 42.44 ± 0.16 compared ascorbic acid 121.7 0.04. Administration resulted a significant (p <0.05) decrease induced serum cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-C, VLDL-C, atherogenic index increase HDL-C. addition, also significantly reducing peroxidation preventing depletion GSH hepatic tissues. The results suggest that contains phytochemicals properties, justifying use ethnomedicine.
