摘要: Objective: To evaluate the relationship between reduction in number of asthma-related hospital admissions and changes occurring after intervention performed health care system city Londrina, Brazil. Methods: In 2003, an was local (Family Health Clinics) The steps adopted were as follows: development a protocol based on III Brazilian Consensus Asthma Management; access to free inhaled corticosteroids for patients; training professionals; implementation educational measures, especially community. authorizations admission patients diagnosed with asthma alone 2002 2005 Londrina analyzed. Results: mean age 14.3 ± 0.5 years, without gender predominance. fell more markedly than previous years studied. This decline pronounced at Family Clinics where professional occurred earlier. post-intervention (2004-2005) rate (120/100,000 inhabitants) significantly lower pre-intervention (2002-2003) (178/100,000 inhabitants; p < 0.01).
