摘要: Abstract The hydration of tricalcium silicate, Ca 3 SiO 5 , in a small steel ball mill at room temperature was investigated. stoichiometry the reaction is represented by 2Ca + 6H 2 O = Si 7 ·3H 3Ca(OH) initial products are calcium hydroxide (both crystalline and amorphous) silicate hydrate, designated as “hydrate III.” latter shows marked similarities to tobermorite, produced other methods . include CaO/SiO ratio, specific surface area, water content, heat solution, hydration, energy (enthalpy). Hydrate III differs from tobermorite that it unstable; slowly converts another afwillite. chemical formula afwillite O, same hydrate but has different crystal structure, well-crystallized substance. appears be form with structure so disordered exhibits only single X-ray diffraction line, corresponding strongest line tobermorite. kinetics conversion were examined. A possible mechanism for former proposed.
