摘要: Abstract To meet targeted reductions in CO 2 emissions by 2050, demand for metal must be cut, example through the use of lightweight technologies. However, efficient production weight optimized components often requires new, more flexible forming processes. In this paper, a novel hot rolling process is presented I-beams with variable cross-section, which are lighter than prismatic alternatives. First, new concept and described. A detailed computational experimental analysis then conducted into capabilities process. Results show that capable producing defect free variations web depth 30–50%. full indicates likely failure modes, identifies safe operating window. Finally, implications these results beams discussed.
