摘要: The relative age effect (RAE), which refers to an over-representation of selected athletes born early in the selection year, was proven be present alpine ski racing all categories at both national and international levels. However, influential factors on, or causal mechanisms of, RAE are still unknown. Therefore, aim study examine three possible on skiing: physical performance, anthropometric characteristics biological maturational status. included investigation 282 elite Austrian youth racers 413 non-athletes (comparison group) same (10–13 years) region. Six performance tests were performed, body mass height assessed, peak velocity (APHV) calculated. A significant racers. No differences shown calculated APHV between quarters. These results suggest that last quarter can counteract disadvantages if they already level status as those beginning year. weight year significantly higher compared non-athletes, 1 taller heavier other This indicates influence process racing, relatively older more likely exhibit advanced characteristics.
