摘要: Fungal infections (mycoses) affect over a billion people per year. Approximately two million of these are life-threatening, especially for patients with compromised immune system. Fungi the genera Aspergillus, Candida, Histoplasma, and Cryptococcus opportunistic pathogens that contribute to substantial number mycoses. To optimize diagnosis treatment mycoses, we need understand complex fungal-host interplay during pathogenesis, fungal attributes causing virulence, how host resists infection via immunological defenses. In vitro models can be used mimic various tissues organs corresponding responses at near-physiological conditions. Furthermore, include interactions host-microbiota in vivo situation on skin mucosal surfaces. This article reviews currently ranging from cell monolayers microfluidic 3D organ-on-chip (OOC) platforms. We also discuss OOC expand toolbox investigating fungi their human hosts future.
