摘要: Background: School-based campaigns to improve student health have demonstrated short-term success across various topics. However, evidence of the effectiveness programs in promoting healthy beliefs and behaviors is limited. We hypothesized that educational curricula teaching science behind promotion would increase knowledge, adherence behaviors, this case related influenza. Methods: Integrated Science Education Outreach a successful education intervention Rochester, Minnesota public schools has improvements learning. Within program, we designed novel assessments determine if gains knowledge extended influenza prevention. Further, coupled InSciEd Out programming with clinical intervention, Influenza Prevention Prescription (IPPE), compare students' attitudes, intentions utilizing surveys hand hygiene monitoring equipment. Results: 95 students participated (IPPE) school. Talking drawings captured improvement prevention understanding washing [pre n=17(43%); post n=30(77%)] vaccination n=2(5%); n=15(38%)]. Findings from 1024 566 revealed strong baseline attitudes cough etiquette (74% or greater positive responses). Automated handhygiene school bathrooms classrooms estimated compliance for both soap (overall median 63%, IQR 38% 100%) sanitizer use (0.04 0.24 uses per day) but did not show significant pre/ IPPE differences. Conclusions: Student principles was reasonably high. Even baseline, improved unprompted prevent influenza, as reflected by talking drawings. This metric may be more sensitive capturing among than traditional assessment methods. produce further differences regarding flu.
