摘要: Reactivation of herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) occurs intermittently as perceived clinically and by viral culture. We performed a series studies to evaluate the frequency pattern HSV-2 reactivation using both isolation HSV PCR assay. Daily samples genital secretions were obtained from 27 seropositive women; subset subjects while receiving oral acyclovir 400 mg PO twice day. DNA was detected in swab specimens on 28% 1,410 d compared with 8.1% days isolation. 11 20 women had > 20% days, 4 50%, 75% days; contrast, none shed 21% The daily administration promptly reduced detection median 80%. Within 3-4 discontinuing acyclovir, again appeared area. shedding mucosa much more frequently than previously appreciated. This frequent likely plays role epidemic spread worldwide.
