摘要: Research on the cities of Classical Greek world has traditionally focused mapping organisation urban space and studying major civic or religious buildings. More recently, newer techniques such as field survey geophysical have facilitated exploration extent character larger areas within settlements, raising questions about economic processes. At same time, detailed analysis residential buildings also supported a change emphasis towards understanding some functional social aspects built environment well purely formal ones. This article argues for advantages analysing using multidisciplinary, multi-scalar framework which encompasses all these various approaches adds to them other analytical (particularly micro-archaeology). We suggest that this strategy can lead more holistic view city, not only physical place, but dynamic community, revealing its origins, development patterns activity. Our argument is made with reference research design, methodology results first three seasons fieldwork at city Olynthos, carried out by Olynthos Project.
