摘要: The amphidromous shrimp Xiphocaris elongata (Guerin-Meneville, 1855) has a long rostrum in the presence of predatory fishes and short above steep waterfalls where are absent, i.e., typically waterfalls. Prior experiments showed that elongated X. is induced by chemical signals from fish Agonostomus monticola . We tested hypothesis addition to length there other morphometric differences between long-rostrum (LR) short-rostrum (SR) measured post-orbital carapace pleon LR SR weighed both morphs. have significantly longer heavier pleons than shrimp. These allometric may affect behavior ways that, turn, their interactions with predators environment. Our study demonstrates importance taking measurements when studying crustaceans given these been mostly overlooked, provide insight environmental influences on crustacean morphology behavior. This research provides data prey phenotypes, which alter life-histories
